Born in Scotland, Iain moved to Peterborough in the 1970s and is a proud ambassador for the city.
Starting his career in home improvement sales, Iain’s entrepreneurial spirit saw him setting up his own business from home in 1992. He developed his own successful manufacturing and distribution business, and has been recognised in the Peterborough Business Awards. Now having passed responsibility for the day to day business operations to his son, Iain continues to oversee the family business in his role of Chairman.
Iain has long been recognised as a successful and influential local business leader. Having championed a ‘buy local’ campaign during the economic downturn of 2008, Iain subsequently became a Director of Opportunity Peterborough in 2011. He continues to support and encourage established and emerging businesses in the city, and regularly gives his time to mentor and develop young entrepreneurs.
Iain’s support for the City of Peterborough extends beyond his commercial activity, and he has engaged his wide network to generously support his charity fundraising activities. From charity golf days to raffles and auctions, over many years Iain has raised significant funding for local charities, notably the Sue Ryder Foundation and Make-a-Wish.
Iain was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire in 2019.
