James joined Bidwells LLP in Cambridge in 1978, where he worked for 32 years. He was the firm’s Managing Partner from 1994-2005, and Senior Partner from 2001-2009. During his time at Bidwells James advised many of the Oxford and Cambridge Colleges, institutional and private landowners on their property affairs.
James joined Pigeon Investment Management in 2010 where he works today.
James was Chairman of the CBI East of England in 2004/2005, and was a member of the Real Estate Advisory Board at the Department of Land Economy at Cambridge University. He acts as a Trustee for a number of landowning families in East Anglia. He runs a small family farm on the North Norfolk coast.
James was the High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire for 2013/14, and was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant for Cambridgeshire in 2007.
